As a free service, the County Geomatics Division provides online
aerial photos of Hillsborough County. The County is divided up into 140
photo files that cover approximately nine square miles each. This webpage
provides a map of Hillsborough County divided into these grids that you
click on to select which part of the County you wish to view. Once you narrow
your search to the approximate grid, you will be able to preview the photo
online in a smaller format.
You can also download these photo files for printing or viewing. The
downloadable photos are three foot pixels and approximately
5 to 9 megabytes (Mb) in size for the
grayscale 2000 photos and 15 to 20 Mb for the color
2002 photos. Each file is in compressed WinZip
format. If you do not have WinZip, you will need to
download it from the aerial
photo main page. Aerial photographs at 1 foot pixel
and ½ foot pixel resolution
are available for purchase from the
County Surveying Division at (813) 272-5641.
The naming convention for the files is based on a quarter township.
Example:

The photography for Year 2000 Countywide Aerials project was acquired
on
February 2000 and the Year 2002 Countywide Aerials project photography was
acquired on April 2002.
The datum and projection for both years are as follows:
Horizontal - North American Datum 1983, Adjustment 1990 (NAD 1983, 1990)
Vertical - North American Vertical Datum 1988
Projection - Florida West (902), State Plane Coordinates
Units - U.S. Survey Feet
Both years of photography are ortho-rectified through photogrammetric methods
using the Horizontal-Vertical Control Network for Hillsborough County. All
work was performed under the direction-supervision of a Florida licensed
surveyors & mapper pursuant to Chapter 472 of the Florida Statues.
