Hillsborough County Traffic Services Division�s �Residential Street Lighting Program� helps neighborhoods get street lights.

1. A written request (email, mail or fax) from a petitioner proposing the creation of a street lighting service area


2. The petitioner is sent a map showing the boundaries of the proposed area and a letter containing detailed instructions


3. The petitioner obtains a majority of signatures from the residents meeting certain requirements


4. The petition is placed on the schedule for a public hearing held once a year in February before the Board of County Commissioners


5. If approved, street lights could be installed the following year.
