The Specialized Services Unit is responsible for maintaining all of the wetland mitigation sites that the Public Works Department is responsible for, as well as conducting underground investigations of stormwater infrastructure and maintaining the stormwater pumping stations. This unit also oversees compliance with the County's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater permit, stormwater compliance with the State's Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) program, and manages the Canal Dredging program.
We also have several award winning stormwater environmental education programs for involving individuals and groups from our communities in these important matters. Among these are the Adopt-a-Pond program and the
Lakes and Streams Monitoring program. Details about these programs are on the left.
