Procurement purchases commodities and services, including construction and the selection of architects, engineers, surveyors, mappers and landscape architects, as specified by state law (the CCNA), for Hillsborough County departments under the County Administrator. This includes all aspects of the procurement, from the receipt of a requisition to the issuance of a purchase order.
Procurement's goal is to ensure that Hillsborough County receives quality merchandise and services at the most competitive price and that the taxpayer receives the best value for its tax dollar.
Hillsborough County Procurement is a member of and subscriber to the principles and standards of practices advocated by the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) and the Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers.
All businesses are invited to participate in Hillsborough County's procurement process.

2009 - The National Institute Of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) awarded Hillsborough County's Procurement Department their Pareto Award, the 6th public procurement agency to receive this award. This international award represents the highest form of recognition that can be bestowed upon a public procurement agency to recognize those that epitomize efficiency and resourcefulness through streamlined procurement operations and outstanding achievements in public procurement
The National Institute of Governmental Purchasing, Inc. is a national, membership-based non-profit organization providing support to professionals in the public sector purchasing profession. NIGP provides its members with many services including education, professional networking, research and technical assistance.

2011, 2010, 2008, 2007, 2006 - The National Purchasing Institute (NPI) awarded Hillsborough County's Procurement Department with their Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® award. This annual award is earned by those organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
The National Purchasing Institute is about education and networking for their members and other professionals associated with public sector procurement and supply management. NPI promotes the achievement of excellence in governmental and institutional procurement through education, certification, professional development and networking of it membership. |

2010, 2007, 2004 - The National Institute Of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) awarded Hillsborough County's Procurement Department their Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement award. The accreditation award recognizes those agencies that lead the public procurement profession. Accreditation certification is valid for three years at which time the agency will be required to re-accredit.
