Planning and Zoning Services Division

General Information

The Planning and Zoning Services Division undertakes actions to implement community plans.  Implementing actions may take the form of amendments to the Land Development Code (LDC) to establish zoning regulations consistent with community plans.  These amendments go through a public hearing process and are heard by the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC).  For information on the community based plans in unincorporated Hillsborough County, please visit the Planning Commission’s website .

To facilitate planning for public schools, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and the School Board of Hillsborough County entered into an Interlocal Agreement that emphasizes a partnership between the County and the School Board in planning for the location of new schools and the renovation and closure of existing schools.  It recognizes the importance of schools within the community.
