The Management and Budget Department is committed to helping citizens better understand the County's annual budget, the process of developing and adopting the budget, and the assumptions on which the budget is based. This includes posting on this webpage current reports on the status of the budget, staff reports, links to our Community Statistics page and Taxpayers Guide.

As a measure of quality, since 1986, Hillsborough County has received an Award of Distinguished Budget Presentation from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for each of its budget documents. Hillsborough County also received the Award with additional recognition for the annual 1994 budget and the biennial 1995 budget as Outstanding Communications Devices. In 2002, it received the Award with Special Performance Measures Recognition for the Adopted Biennial Budget for FY02 and FY03. Then in 2004, it received the award with Special Capital Recognition and Special Performance Measures Recognition for the Adopted Biennial Budget for FY04 and FY05. In 2006, it received the award with Special Capital Recognition and Special Performance Measures Recognition and as an Outstanding Financial Management Plan for the Adopted Biennial Budget for FY 06 and FY 07.
