Information on the Shopping Cart Ordinance

Hillsborough County Ordinance #01-28 requires each retail establishment in unincorporated Hillsborough County that furnishes shopping carts to develop and implement a plan for prompt removal of its shopping carts from property other than that of the retail establishment. Such shopping cart retrieval plans must be submitted to the County for approval no later than January 2, 2002.

Ordinance #01-28 also requires that each retail establishment post signs concerning the removal of shopping carts and affix ownership information on each shopping cart.
