What We Do
The Repair and Preservation Section serves two primary roles:
First,
we operate the Repair, Replacement, Renovation, & Maintenance (R3M) Program. The R3M Program provides intermediate level construction services above the resources of routine Maintenance Operations. Typical R3M projects include, but are not limited to:
  • Roof replacements
  • Replacement of air conditioning systems
  • Replacement of Playgrounds
  • Large paint projects such as building exteriors
  • Replacement of fencing
  • Lighting and energy efficiency projects
  • Paving, seal coating and striping of parking lots
  • Demolition of county owned buildings and facilities deemed inhabitable or hazardous
Second, the Repair & Preservation Section performs building inventory and assessment inspections of 5 Million square feet of County-owned Buildings, Facilities and Parks to ensure that County owned assets are safe, efficient and functional. Inventories are performed to accurately catalog the systems that make up each asset and to provide an assessment of current observed conditions. Inventory and Assessment information is then entered into a Capital Planning Database to:
  • Determine Short term deficiencies and to capture the most critical operating safety and efficiency information
  • Determine Long term needs to proactively manage system renewals as far as 10 20 years into the future
  • Develop a list of county wide deferred maintenance requirements
  • Develop a scope of work for new Construction Projects and generate cost estimates
WHAT HAVE WE DONE LATELY?
  1. In the past five years 731 R3M projects were completed at an average cost of $51,136.
  2. In Fiscal Year 2011 the Repair and Preservation Section has completed 77 projects with a dollar value of $2,904,306.
  3. Year to date in Fiscal Year 2011 we have inspected 499,178 square feet of buildings and facilities.
