The Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners has been advised by the Sheriff's Office, that a pattern of illegal drug use and distribution has been linked to pain management clinics operating in Hillsborough County. This activity has created an urgent situation requiring immediate action to reduce the threat to the health, safety and welfare of Hillsborough County residents, where 2-5 deaths occur each week in the County directly attributable to prescription drug use.
Effective May 20, 2010, the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners adopted Ordinance 10-08E, which requires licensure of certain pain management clinics in order to operate after June 15, 2010. The links on this page provide the background and action taken by Hillsborough County to bring this situation under control.
*Note to Pain Management Clinic License applicants: Fingerprint cards can be obtained at the Consumer Protection Agency located at 1101 E 139th Ave Tampa, FL 33613, or the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center located at 4211 N Lois Ave Tampa, FL 33614. Each fingerprint card must include the applicant's full name, sex, race, and date of birth; the subject's social security number is optional.
